This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct operations with integrated tool carrier. This unit applies to those working in site-based roles. For those who will be operating with use of the bucket attachment, a wheeled front end loader unit should be used. We offer both units delivered as a combined course.

training & assessment delivery

We use an online platform to deliver our resources and assessments. After you enrol, you will receive an invite from the platform, prompting you to log in. You will have access to the theory section right away. We recommend this is completed prior to attendance, however, you will have the opportunity to complete this with your trainer if preferred.

All practical training and assessment will be delivered in-person with your trainer. Tasks/forms relating to the practical elements will be released to you in the platform upon attendance.

If preferred, we can provide paper copies of all resources and assessments.

What you will learn & how you will be assessed

To successfully complete this unit, you will need to demonstrate that you can safely and competently operate an integrated tool carrier in a workplace environment.

You will be required to demonstrate your skills including:

Completing pre-start checks and shutdown procedures
Driving and operating the equipment and adjusting techniques to suit site conditions
Monitoring and adjusting equipment performance
Establishing load weight and safely lifting and moving loads
Coordinating with the dogman to select appropriate slings and lifting gear
Ensuring loads and equipment are safely secured and stabilised
Managing changes in the load's centre of gravity during transport
Selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing approved attachments
Moving the equipment between worksites
Cleaning and storing attachments
Refuelling where required
Parking and securing the equipment

You must also demonstrate that you can:

Follow relevant workplace documentation, policies and procedures
Select and wear required PPE
Identify hazards, assess risks and manage environmental issues
Interpret ground conditions and basic technical information
Calculate safe working loads
Monitor equipment indicators and alarms
Apply problem-solving and fault-finding techniques
Communicate effectively using hand, audible and other signals
Identify and report equipment faults and operational issues
Complete required written and verbal reports

You will need knowledge of:

Integrated tool carrier capabilities, limitations and operating techniques
Safe working loads and load-handling requirements
Load stability and centre of gravity
Selection and safe use of attachments and lifting equipment
Safe operation across varying terrain and ground conditions
Dogman communication and load-handling requirements
Equipment maintenance, basic diagnostics and fault procedures
Emergency, fire and accident procedures
PPE and WHS requirements
Safe load securing, stabilisation and equipment movement
Basic materials handling and technical information

Assessment will be conducted using an integrated tool carrier and required PPE in a safe, realistic workplace environment. You must demonstrate safe and consistent performance in accordance with relevant legislation, workplace procedures and manufacturer requirements. Where necessary, assessment may be conducted in a realistic and sufficiently rigorous simulated work environment.

Requirements & prerequisites

Participants will need to demonstrate sufficient Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills. Please advise us if you have any LLND concerns or issues as support is available and adjustments can be made to ensure you are not disadvantaged in completing this course.

Participants will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. If you have completed any Nationally Recognised Training from 2015 onwards, you may already have one. You can locate or create your USI number here.

Location

This course is delivered at 33 North Jindong Road, Carbunup.

There are multiple businesses operating at this facility, so students need to be mindful of traffic, follow the posted speed limits and follow signage directing to the training area.

Accreditation

Participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment via email within 14 days of completing the course. Payment is required before any certification can be issued.

Dress code

Students need to wear long-sleeved clothing and steel-capped boots. Hi-Vis vests, hard hats and ear protection will be provided where required.
